Isn’t This God’s Judgement?

The question was sent to me today, “Did you read these words by so many famous Christian leaders? They say this is God’s judgement. Isn’t this God’s judgement?”

My response is this: I hope Christians will begin to understand that God is not in the business of dispensing judgement. The angry verbiage that Christians spout, and the upset that so many Christians are constantly embroiled in, shows that they are living out a VERY bad concept of God!

In the Bible God says: “Do these things and you will reap blessings. Do these other things and you will reap curses.” Of course, this is the short version, and we could do a better job by laying it all out at length. But when the study is done, we see that God has given us a choice. It’s that simple. We choose blessings, or we choose curses. God is not dispensing judgement. God wants to bless His people. He wants us to lead lives of blessing for ourselves and for the world.

Yet, even though these national Christian leaders are misrepresenting God by freaking out about judgement, these people have a point about waking up a sleeping church.

This IS a time to sound the alarm — not about God’s judgement, but about the judgements that the Church has been bringing on herself and the nation by living carnal lives, not pressing in to God, not caring about the widows and the orphans… basically living the life that God has told us will bring curses!

So this is a warning, but not of impending judgement. It is a warning to wake up and respond to God, because He has a better plan that we can take hold of right now if we turn away from selfish lifestyles and press in to Him!

From Give Him 15, “I believe we are coming into the season of the ‘healing of the land’ and the greatest harvest of souls ever reaped. In fact, I am going to go out on a limb here and say that I believe that we are going to see more souls saved in the next 20 years than we’ve seen in the last 2000. This will not happen because we are the best generation. It will happen because God has saved the best wine for last and the passion that He has for souls, for people, for the human race. I’m believing for at least a billion souls over the next decade or two. I believe nations will come into the Kingdom – nations where people would have never believed it’s possible. ‘After this I looked, and behold, a great multitude that no one could number, from every nation, from all tribes and peoples and languages, standing before the throne and before the Lamb, clothed in white robes, with palm branches in their hands.’ (Revelation 7:9; ESV)

“Declare mercy, mercy, mercy, mercy, mercy over America. Ask God for His mercy to triumph over judgement and that His mercy would draw the lost to Him, even those who are currently enemies of the cross. Call for mercy for those the enemy has bound and to those who have been at war against God’s purposes for America. Declare Revelation 7:9.

“A prayer you can pray: Father, You have been telling us for a year that the message You have for America is “Mercy. Mercy, mercy, mercy, mercy. Covenantal love and mercy. My mercy triumphs over judgement. My mercy loves my enemies. My mercy would die for you even while you were My enemies. My mercy is new every morning.” We call for mercy over those who don’t know You. We call for mercy of those who are bound, mercy over those that have warred against Your purposes. Mercy, mercy, mercy! Oh Jesus! Amen. Today’s decree: We call for the rain from heaven – the mercy of God over America!”

Isn’t that message deeper, more redemptive, and much more helpful than the “God’s Judgement on the United States” headlines?

So when we warn of impending judgement we are both misrepresenting God and missing His point: He always has a redemptive plan! Our position should be to act as watchmen blowing the trumpet to warn God’s people to turn to Him — and then to encourage the people with God’s redemptive message!

Did God say that we should humble ourselves and repent, humble ourselves and repent, humble ourselves and repent? If you listen to so many Christians these days, you would think so! You would think that He is a mindless slave driver who exacts fanatical acts over and over with no purpose!

But No! God is the lover of our souls! He is NOT like this! He said: “IF”! If — we will humble ourselves and pray — then He will Hear from heaven and HEAL OUR LAND!

This is the Redemptive message! We should warn of the natural results of going our own way… and then focus on God’s Redemptive message!

Which brings us to the eclipse. This sign holds much more than a warning… it holds the clues to God’s redemptive message to us!

Dionne, my wife: “While waiting on God this morning I found myself looking down on America from God’s perspective. He asked me, “Do you see what I see?” As I looked, I saw the path of the eclipse from the corner of the upper west coast to the corner of the lower east coast. Then I understood that God had used the natural sun and the moon to show the work of His Son and bride (who is often referred as the moon in scriptures) in the earth, to DRAW A LINE IN THE SAND of the land of America.

As the sun & moon, so the Son & His bride, synced perfectly, following the path of 12 states over an area of about 70 miles. (These numbers have great significance in the Word of God.) The actual width of the eclipse path was 67 miles, which caused me to remember Psalm 67, which Scott & I had prayed every night for 50 days during the season of The Counting of the Omer:

‘God be gracious and merciful to us and bless us, and cause Your face to shine with favor on us. Selah. That Your way may be known on the earth, Your salvation and deliverance among all nations. Let all the people praise You, O God, turn away from their idols and give You thanks. Let the nations be glad and sing for joy, for You will judge the people fairly and guide the nations on earth. Selah. Let all the peoples praise You, O God, turn away from their idols and give You thanks. The earth has yielded its harvest as evidence of His approval; God, our God, blesses us. God blesses us, and all the ends of the earth shall fear Him with awe-inspired reverence and submissive wonder.’ ~Ps. 67

I then heard the Lord say loudly and clearly, ‘THIS FAR AND NO FURTHER!’ God has marked America for Himself! He says, ‘SHE IS AND WILL BE MINE ALONE!’ We’ve crossed a line in time; I could feel it in my spirit this morning as I prayed here in Korea. Things will now accelerate at an even greater pace as we head forward. The enemy of our souls knows this and is throwing a fit, stirring up the nations of the world to fight against God and His purposes. But our Heavenly Father, His Lamb, and His bride will be victorious in the earth. He is and will be victorious in America. There is only doom and gloom for the enemies of God. For us, who are His, this is great news! The King is coming soon!”

This is God’s message to America. Not judgement! Of course, Psalm 67 is calling all men to repentance and to worship Him Alone! But it is not about judgement! It is about the blessing that God wants to pour out on us — and will pour out on us — when we turn to Him. An additional clue is the seven cities named Salem that the path of the eclipse crossed. God is speaking PEACE! Seven times over America. It’s written in the land. This is not a harbinger of doom. This points out His desire for redemption!

To wrap up: We can display a much better, more accurate concept of God to the Church and to the world when Christian leaders begin to speak up for God’s redemptive message in these kinds of situations rather than issuing headlines about God’s impending judgement. Of course, Jesus is coming back to judge His enemies. This will be the Day of Judgement. Even that is a hope to us! But right now, God is not in the business of dispensing judgement.  These things may be warnings, not of impending judgement, but for the Church and the world to wake up and respond to Him! He has a better plan that we can take hold of right now, if we turn away from selfish lifestyles and give our all to Him.

We can live lives in which we cultivate blessing. We can live lives in which we cultivate sorrow, brokenness and curses. Which do you choose?
