Pray Psalm 24 for North Korea!

A few months ago in the K1 House of Prayer in Seoul, we prayed Psalm 24 over North Korea. It was a very powerful time of intercession over the oppressed nation, and the recent noise from North Korea makes the continuing need for prayer increasingly relevant.

For a fascinating look at the Kim family, the book, “My Father Kim Jong Il and Me” has been published in Japan, and may now be available in English. It is based on interviews with Kim Jong Nam, Kim Jong Il’s oldest son, a family insider of the secretive North Korean Communist dynasty.

So pray with me through Psalm 24 for North Korea~

Psalm 24

“1 The earth is the LORD’s, and everything in it, the world, and all who live in it;
2 for he founded it upon the seas and established it upon the waters.”

Yes, God, we agree with Your word! The earth is yours… including every man, woman and child in North Korea! They do not belong to a dictator, or the whim of a totalitarian regime! They belong to You, Oh God! You look with compassion on the people of North Korea. Release them from their bondage, Oh God! Bring down the terrible evil that enslaves the people!

“3 Who may ascend the hill of the LORD?
Who may stand in his holy place?
4 He who has clean hands and a pure heart,
who does not lift up his soul to an idol
or swear by what is false.
5 He will receive blessing from the LORD
and vindication from God his Savior.
6 Such is the generation of those who seek him,
who seek your face, O God of Jacob.”

We lift up the people of North Korea. We ask, God, that You would take down the false idols, the cult of personality in North Korea — that motivates them to elevate the Kim family as Gods; that compels them to worship these mere men as false idols; erected by an evil regime whose motivation is power, control and death. We speak life to the people of North Korea — we speak the God-given freedom into this nation for the people to rise up and worship the One True God! We speak clean hands over a people who have known only corruption… we speak pure hearts over a people who have known only secrecy and lethal domination. We pray that You, Oh God, will raise up a generation of North Koreans who will seek You, and find You, and overthrow this darkness that holds them in bondage.

“Selah

7 Lift up your heads, O you gates;
be lifted up, you ancient doors,
that the King of glory may come in.
8 Who is this King of glory?
The LORD strong and mighty,
the LORD mighty in battle.
9 Lift up your heads, O you gates;
lift them up, you ancient doors,
that the King of glory may come in.
10 Who is he, this King of glory?
The LORD Almighty—
he is the King of glory.”

Open, Oh gates of North Korea! Be opened, oh you ancient doors! Oh Gates of North Korea, which have been closed to the God of the Universe for over a half century… be loosed in Jesus’ Name! Open by the desperate cry of your poor and your needy! Open because of the starving of your people, for the imprisoned, the tortured, the raped!

Open, oh you ancient doors, that the King of Glory may come in! Open to the everlasting Love of God… Open to His mercy and healing grace! Open to the waiting world, that the King of Glory may come in, bringing light and life to the people of North Korea! Open up in Jesus’ mighty Name! Amen!
