A Vision of the Bride

During our community gathering last sunday night I had a vision. While the worship was going on, I saw what looked like Jesus walking among His people. I have seen this kind of vision quite often, and it usually means that we are in for a really blessed time together. But this time there was something different. The figure wasn’t walking, but seemed to be taking a small first step…

I then began to see how lithe and slim the figure before me was, how the wind of the Holy Spirit blew through a long, delicate gown, and how long hair trailed delicately behind.

I realized, all at once, that it was the Bride standing before me — a bride that looked like her lover. She stood with a light shining through her, and the Holy Spirit like a dove hovering over her right shoulder.

As she took that small first step, heaven opened up over us. I saw ranks and ranks of Angels coming through the clouds, cheering together with a roar, and showering down what looked like tiny shards of liquid light.

Then, at the height of the vault of heaven I saw Christ, shining brighter than the sun, beaming down on the scene. The interpretations are many, and go in so many directions. I think that overall it means that the Bride of Christ is being revealed in our day. I think that she is taking, or is soon to take, her first small steps as a pure and prepared bride ready for her bridegroom — and that her mere appearance hastens His return for her.

She Steps Forward
a poem from a vision by J. Scott Husted

Here she is:
She steps forward
as lightly as the dawn.

The Spirit, like a dove,
With her,
On her,
In her…

Blowing through her,
and through her hair —
Shining in her,
and in her eyes.

The Beloved:
She looks like her love.

The Earth trembles
and waits,
as she takes
Her first
Step —

Heaven opens,
The skies roll back;
Thousands upon thousands
of angels breaking through,
Releasing their Joy —

Grace and hope,
Peace and joy
rain down as liquid light!
Her Bridegroom,
Beams —
More radiant than the sun.
